Last post from the laundromat😊.
On the way to Capitol Reef, we stopped at a Utah state park with lots of petrified wood, which Ralph really likes. That was the one hike where we really felt a little overheated. Our other hikes were in the morning when it was much cooler and this one was in the afternoon. Saw some really beautiful petrified wood.
We LOVED Capitol Reef! The campground was full of Cottonwood trees and surrounded by orchards. We picked pears and apples, had homemade apple pie and cinnamon rolls from the camp store. And, of course the scenery was spectacular. It is a quieter park, smaller, not so commercial. And yes, it was hot, but there was usually a nice breeze. Saw a couple of new birds, Yellow Warbler and Western Kingbird, and as usual, a few I couldn’t identify.
We really enjoy hearing the kids in the campground. This morning a little boy was telling his older sister that he wanted to be the one to open the trash can because he hadn’t done it before. Imagine asking that same kid to take out the trash In about eight years.
Yes, we are getting some haze from the Colorado fires, just got into it this morning as we headed to Moab. It’s not too bad so hope it doesn’t worsen. Our masks could be serving two purposes, protection from COVID and smoke.
Laundry is done, groceries purchased and we are off to Arches!

We picked apricots from that same orchard area last summer! But we failed to find that great creek where Ralph is cooling his heels! It sounds like a wonderful trip. And the photos are fabulous!!
