Hi,
We arrived in Colby, Kansas late this afternoon, lost an hour today, and now are in the Central Time Zone. Neither of us have ever been in Kansas and were fascinated by the change in terrain once we reached Eastern Colorado and into Kansas. Prairies as far as you can see. The wind is evident by the number of windmills we saw. With the current and planned construction of windmills, they will produce enough electricity to power 2 Million homes. Pretty impressive!
Also saw fields and fields of corn plus lots of cattle.
We are less than thrilled with the RV park we are staying in (hence the whining I alluded to in the last post). Our space was preassigned and has a tree in the middle of it (!), so we had to park close to the next RV. We were unable to request a different spot because the office is closed due to COVID. We had to fill out the registration and slip it in their mail slot. We are right next to Interstate Fwy 70 and very loud semi-trucks are constantly going by. Earplugs will be needed tonight and will likely be inadequate. The only other park available in the vicinity had terrible reviews. Sure am missing the national park campgrounds. On the plus side, we have electricity, water and WiFi.
We head to Grand Island, Nebraska tomorrow. We will be traveling east more quickly now.
Stopped at a fruit stand today to get fresh corn and bought this delicious salsa. Ralph said the Ghost Chili Salsa wasn't too hot - didn't make his eyes water. I stuck with the milder stuff.Corn fields and windmills as far as you can see. This was taken while we were driving. The view from our RV site. Check out how close we are to Interstate 70 and the semis rolling by😞.
I would complain about the campground and site too! The mango lime salsa sounds great! Put it on top of some grilled shrimp?
