Hi Everyone,
Today we spent the day in Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Acadia is about 100 miles northeast from our campground. We arrived at the park around 9:30 AM and spent most of the day there. It is a very beautiful park and worthy of being the seventh most visited national park in 2019. We then drove the few miles to Bar Harbor for dinner and to wander around the town. It was a long and wonderful day. The weather was 73 degrees and just perfect.
Driving home in the dark, we almost hit a buck. Luckily, Ralph saw him in time and hit the brakes. That is the closest we have ever come to hitting a deer.
This photo is from Jordan Pond and doesn't quite do it justice. The grasses were much redder on the lower half. Really lovely area. The coastline at Acadia is really spectacular. It was so warm out that we searched for a rock in the shade to sit on and eat our lunch.More of our hike along the coastline. We saw a young woman with a hula hoop again! Just like at Arches NP. This got me curious so I found some YouTube videos of someone doing a video at a hiking spot while hula hooping. Not impressed. This was a really interesting area because the rocks in the middle of the photo are worn to a round shape but are surrounded on all sides by jagged rocks. This view is from Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on Mount Desert Island, on which most of the park lies.Anybody need a bird house??? This was in a shop in Bar Harbor, one of the few shops that doesn't sell T-shirts.Sunset at Bar Harbor.
As Phil says, sweet!
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it to Acadia. I’ll tell you later about our Bar Harbor kayak experience. I earned a lobster and wine lunch from it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of one of our most favorite places in the world...took a trip up there, about this time of the year, about 4 years ago. So glad that you visited there and that the weather was ideal!
ReplyDeleteBeautifulf! It's on my list now.
