Hello from Memphis,
We left Mammoth Caves around 8:00 AM and arrived at Graceland RV Park early afternoon. It was an easy driving day as we were on an Interstate freeway the whole way. We traveled through Nashville but did not stop at the Grand Ole Opry. Along the way were miles and miles of cotton fields that looked ready to harvest.
I was a bit sad to leave the campground this morning as we have no more national parks to visit where we will experience the grandeur of nature. We left the beauty of Great Smoky Mountains, surrounded by trees changing colors, leaves falling and blanketing the ground. We were always near a beautiful river and the sounds of rushing water. Mammoth Cave campground was nestled in beautiful trees and filled with the sounds of small children and their finding joy in the simplest things like searching for the perfect rock. We do have one NP left, but it is in the city of Hot Springs, AK.
Ralph is a happy guy. He had a meal of BBQ ribs along with beef brisket and it was Memphis good! I had a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw, also delicious. Before dinner, we drove over to Beale Street, a mini New Orleans French Quarter. It was mid-afternoon so it was quiet. We really would have liked to have been there in the evening listening to live music. But, it is pretty much all indoors and even with a 50% capacity limit, we would not feel safe. So we just walked around before going to dinner. This is our street name at the Graceland RV park. We are only a couple blocks from Graceland. Other street names include "Love Me Tender Blvd" and "Heartbreak Lane". Pretty funny.Look close and you can see a Cardinal in the bushes. He was gorgeous. A female was also nearby. I took a short walk after arriving here and found a spot where there appeared to be a lot of birds and was treated to the pair of cardinals. When I walked around the corner, there was the dumpster. Of course. The "dirty" secret of bird-watching is that some of the best spots to see birds are near dumpsters, dump stations and restrooms. Ralph keeps wondering why I volunteer to take out the trash 😉.
Food looks amazing! ....and you gave Graceland a miss? What would Elvis say?
