Happy Mother's Day again!
Yesterday we spent the day with our sister-in-law, Zelpha, in Newnan. Had a wonderful day. We spent much of the day at the Callaway Gardens, which is not too far from Newnan. It is a beautiful area and has an impressive butterfly exhibit with a very large butterfly "house". There must have been 10-15 different types of butterflies. The rest of the grounds were beautiful. We were a little late for the Azaleas but there were still many beautiful flowers. We finished the day dining at a great Thai restaurant.
Today we traveled our longest day, 533 very long miles We made good time but it is a long way to travel pulling a trailer. Not the most fun way to spend Mother's Day but since I did the planning, guess it's pretty much all my doing. The trip was made so much more enjoyable getting Mother's Day wishes from the kids and grandkids.
We will be staying two nights in Babcock State Park just outside New River Gorge National Park, the country's newest national park.
Here are a few butterfly pictures. Ralph had to work hard at getting pictures when the butterflies weren't moving around.Ralph, Zelpha and me in the butterfly house. Not sure if you can see any butterflies in the photo. This is from a flowering tree in Callaway Gardens. These are all the states we went through today. A long, long day. This was taken from the car towards the end of our drive today. The terrain had been flat all through the South but started getting hilly when we were about half way through Virginia.
Thanks for sharing the long journey: this will be a memorable Mother's Day for you, Patty - can't be accused of sitting and doing nothing!
