Hello from the Eastern Time Zone,
Happy Mother's Day! I hope everyone has had a nice day. This post was intended for Friday. I had it all written but couldn't send it due to no cell or Internet service. So I am sending it here and will also do a separate post for the last two days.
From Friday:
We made it to the Chatahoochie State Park late this afternoon - it's about an hour south of Atlanta. We were pretty tired after being kept awake last night by an impressive thunder and lightning storm that lasted for a few hours. Fortunately the rain had stopped by the time we had to get ready to go this morning.
We traveled in four states today: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. The terrain in Mississippi and Alabama was very similar, everything being green and trees everywhere. It was quite beautiful. Once we got to Georgia, it seemed more "woodsy" with lots of pine trees and red soil. We really enjoy the gradual transition of the terrain as we travel across the US. When we fly somewhere, we don't get to enjoy that transition.
Tomorrow we will spend the day with our sister-in-law who lives nearby in Newnan.
Our campsite near Newnan, Georgia. Very nice site, but a ways out of town, hence no cell or Internet.
Had fun taking pictures of the "Welcome" signs as we entered each state. it was a long day as evidenced by the number of states we went through.
